Gold Seal Courses

Gold seal courses are construction courses that have been approved by the Canadian Construction Association and are valid for gold seal credits.

There are specific Gold Seal courses and training options you can take to earn the required Gold Seal credits needed for the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) Gold Seal Certification (GSC). These courses are part of the education and training portion of the Gold Seal program and help you accumulate the minimum credits before you can write the Gold Seal exam

Once a student successfully completes a gold seal course, they will be provided with a certificate that shows how many gold seal credits that course was worth – and of course the certificate will also have the gold seal logo on it!

These points can be used towards obtaining a gold seal certification from the Canadian Construction Association.

How Gold Seal Courses Work

To qualify to write the Gold Seal exam, you must earn a minimum number of credits from Gold Seal-accredited training courses. We have many gold seal certification online courses, and so do other education providers.

  • Courses must be accredited by the CCA to count toward your credits.
  • Every 3 hours of accredited training = 1 Gold Seal credit (up to a maximum per course).

Credits are part of your education-training component in your Gold Seal application (you also earn credits from experience and formal education).

What types of training are required?

Construction industry ethics is a required course for all gold seal applicants, and the gold seal course is worth 3 credits. This is often one of the first courses people take because it’s mandatory and gives a good foundation for ethical decision-making in construction.

Depending on whether the course is taken live online or as a self-paced video course, the gold seal credits can vary slightly.

How many credits can I get with your Gold Seal Courses?

Our online courses (video recorded) that can be completed anytime at your own pace are worth either 2 or 3 CCA Gold Seal Credits depending on the course.

If taking a course in person or live online via zoom, you can earn from 2 to 5 CCA gold seal credits depending on the course taken.

Gold Seal courses are your path to earning the credits you need to sit the Gold Seal exam and eventually earn your certification. There’s a wide range of options — from ethics and safety courses to estimating, leadership, and project management training — and most are offered regionally or online through accredited providers.
